Four venue managers named on shortlist to operate new Perth Stadium

Four venue management companies - AEG Ogden, Nationwide Venue Management, Perth Stadium Management and Stadium Australia Operations - have been short-listed to operate the new $1 billion Perth Stadium at Burswood.
As of early 2018, the successful operator will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the sports and entertainment precinct, playing a role in delivering a 'fans first' experience and attracting high quality events.
Announcing the shortlist, Western Australian Sport and Recreation Minister Mia Davies said the four respondents will receive Request for Proposals documentation so they could prepare for their tenders.
Minister Davies explained "each submission will then be thoroughly reviewed and evaluated, and the contract is expected to be awarded in early 2016.
“The operator is expected to employ a number of full-time staff plus more than 1,500 casuals to fulfil a year-round calendar of activities and events.”
The chosen operator will work closely with governance agency, VenuesWest, and facilities manager Brookfield Global Integrated Solutions.
A joint venture between Australian based interests and AEG Facilities, a stand-alone affiliate of the Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), one of the leading sports and entertainment presenters in the world, AEG Ogden is perhaps Australia's best known venue manager and is the current operator of the Perth Arena.
Established by the West Australian Football Commission and backed by global industry giants Delaware North, Live Nation and Ticketmaster, the recently established Perth Stadium Management has been expected to bid for management contracts at venues including the WACA, nib Stadium in East Perth, Perth Theatre Trust venues and the Perth Stadium.
Nationwide Venue Management is a division of Spotless while Stadium Australia Operations manage Sydney's ANZ Stadium.
The Western Australian Government plan that the new venue will be open for the 2018 AFL season and will also host rugby, football, cricket, and international acts and artists.
Construction of the stadium is currently proceeding on schedule with more than 50% of its piles inserted into the site to support the stadium structure. The first concrete slab was poured last week.
